Three layers, about 25 checks
An AI agent has to reach your store, understand what you sell, and trust you enough to send a shopper. The scan checks each step against what your public pages actually serve.
Discovery
Can AI crawlers and agents find and reach your store? We check whether your bot protection lets them in, what robots.txt allows, and whether your sitemap points them to your products.
- AI search and assistant crawlers
- robots.txt and XML sitemap
- Homepage title, description, canonical
Catalog
Can they read your products without guessing? We check that name, price, availability, identifiers and brand are machine-readable and present in the HTML before any JavaScript runs.
- Product structured data and offers
- GTIN, MPN or SKU, and brand
- Server-rendered name and price
Transaction
Is there enough trust and policy detail for an agent to recommend you or buy? We check HTTPS, return and shipping terms, machine-readable ratings and published contact details.
- Return and shipping policies
- Ratings and contact details
- Agentic checkout profile (UCP)
Answer readiness
Could an assistant answer what buyers ask, from your product pages? We work out what you sell, then look for answers to the questions buyers ask about it, such as whether a shoe runs true to size or which vehicles a part fits. You see how many your pages answer, and which ones they miss. It is reported separately and is not part of the score.
AI readiness, answered plainly
What is AI readiness, and why does it matter for my store?
AI readiness is how easily AI shopping agents and answer engines can find your store, read your products and trust your policies. When a shopper asks an assistant what to buy, the assistant can only recommend products it can read. A store that blocks AI crawlers, or hides prices behind JavaScript, is hard for it to recommend.
What exactly do you check?
About 25 automated checks across three layers. Discovery covers bot access, robots.txt, AI crawler rules, your sitemap and homepage metadata. Catalog covers Product structured data, price and availability, identifiers, brand, descriptions, images and whether product details are in the page HTML. Transaction covers HTTPS, return and shipping policies, ratings and contact details.
A few checks, such as AI training crawlers, llms.txt and agentic checkout profiles, are shown for information and are not scored.
What is answer readiness?
It is a second result shown beside your score. From your store’s own product data we work out what you sell, such as shoes, apparel or auto parts, and use a set of six to eight questions buyers ask about that category. Then we look for an answer to each one on the product pages we sample, in the structured data or the product’s own text. Site navigation and footers do not count.
We read those pages as an AI agent does: the HTML and structured data, without running JavaScript. So a question marked not answered means the answer is not in your product pages as an agent reads them. You may well have it elsewhere, and details that load by JavaScript are seen by shoppers but not by agents. Answer readiness is not part of the 0 to 100 score.
Do you change anything on my site, or need access to it?
No, and no. We read the same public pages any visitor can see: your homepage, a sample of product pages, robots.txt, your sitemap and your policy pages. We do not log in, install anything or change anything.
Why does my score differ from my SEO tools?
SEO tools measure how a page is likely to rank in search results. This scan measures whether an AI agent can read your products as products. A page can rank well and still fail here, for example when the price only appears after JavaScript runs, or when robots.txt blocks the crawlers AI assistants use.
The score reflects signals we can see on your public pages. It is not how any AI engine ranks your store, and it does not predict traffic or revenue.
What do you do with my URL and email?
We use your URL to run the scan. Results are cached for 24 hours and kept for 30 days so your report link keeps working. If you unlock the full report, Webscale may contact you about your results. See our privacy policy for details.
My score is low. What should I fix first?
Start with the top three fixes on your result. They are ranked by severity, and access problems come first because nothing else counts if agents cannot reach your pages. The full report then lists your quick wins, which are often a robots.txt or structured data change.
Catalog gaps usually take longer, because the missing detail often lives outside your storefront. That is the work the Commerce Context Engine does.
Does this work for my platform?
Yes, for any public storefront: Shopify, BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce and Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WooCommerce, Shopware or a custom build. We detect the platform where we can and show it on your result.
